Trở lại những năm 80, 90 của thế kỷ trước, đội bóng New York Knicks tới từ thành phố Big Apple là một trong những cái tên vô cùng nổi tiếng với một đội hình mạnh đến mức đủ khả năng để đối đầu với Michael Jordan và Chicago Bulls. Lấy chính cảm hứng từ đó, Air Jordan 3 đã cho ra đời phiên bản Retro Knicks, nối tiếp đôi giày Air Jordan 13 ”Lakers” lừng lẫy trước đó.

Air Jordan 3 Retro ‘Knicks Rivals’ tự hào có phối màu lấy cảm hứng từ New York Kicks – một trong những đối thủ lớn của Michael Jordan và Chicago Bulls Là chiếc Air Jordans đầu tiên được thiết kế bởi Tinker Hatfield với sự ra mắt của logo Jumpman trên lưỡi gà, phiên bản retro ‘Knicks Rivals’ này, được phát hành vào tháng 9 năm 2019, vẫn đúng với hình dáng ban đầu với phần trên bằng da lộn màu trắng, họa tiết da voi trên mũi giày và gót giày, các điểm nhấn màu Old Royal và University Orange, và phần Nike Air có thể nhìn thấy được dưới đế.
